Heating has launched the range of LMK Thermosafe drum heaters
on the Australian market.
The outstanding feature of the LMK Thermosafe range is the IECEx certified induction drum heater for use in hazardous areas. This is the first time drum heater users have the opportunity to meet world’s best practice in hazardous area protection.
Designed to heat 205 litre drums or smaller steel vessels. Thermosafe is a single induction coil, wholly encapsulated in a cylinder made from a glass reinforced resin specifically developed for chemical plant. The cylinder is simply placed over the drum.
The complete absence of hot elements and the encapsulation of all electrical components enables unattended use, overnight if required. Thermosafe can even be used in hazardous areas Zones 1 and 2, as the heater is unique in possessing full IECEx and BASEEFA/ATEX certification. Uniform heating without hot spots reduces the risk of product degradation. Accidental spillage does not present a fire hazard and personnel can work comfortably in close proximity. Together, these features allow material to be heated at point of use, thus eliminating the transport of hot drums
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”
Grimwood Heating has launched the Eliwell range of electronic
thermostats.
The
Eliwell IC controllers are a complete range of multifunction
devices with one operating point, designed to satisfy any application
requirement in the sphere of temperature and process control
for
light industry.
The current product lines are now to be found in a single range of devices in the standard Eliwell 32x74 size and incorporate in one single controller, all the best technological and application solutions that have distinguished Eliwell electronic controllers for years.
Eliwell IC controllers offer the right response to the most demanding market requirements.
The distinguishing features of the Eliwell IC controller are:
As a launch special offer, Grimwood is providing these on their popular OTS “Over the side” range of heaters for no extra charge.
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”
Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd has launched a full range of electric duct heaters with both finned and unfinned elements.
The duct heaters are available in capacities ranging from 500W to 50kW.
Application Designed
to be easily inserted into an opening in the duct wall.Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”
Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd has launched a compact bio-diesel heater specifically designed for use in small scale production.
With
the ever rising cost of oil, many businesses and individuals
are turning to alternatives. Small scale producers of bio-diesel
blend ingredients such vegetable oil and animal fats to produce
an environmentally friendly and low cost fuel. When using waste
products such as used cooking oil, not only are they solving
a waste disposal problem, they are conserving fossil fuel.
The 2.4kW units fit through a standard 210 litre drum nozzle and are thermostatically controlled.
The units are designed with low watts density to ensure that the oils being heated are not damaged by excessive temperatures due to localized overheating adjacent to the element sheath.
They can also be used for heating other materials such as waxes, paraffin and resins.
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”
Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd has extended their range of DIY elements to include higher operating temperature designs.
These higher operating temperatures are made possible by the use of Nicrofer 7216 high temperature alloy materials from ThyssenKrupp VDM.
Nicrofer
7216 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy characterised by:
DIY elements are annealed straight length elements designed for on-site bending and are ideal for custom built work, short runs and repairs to existing equipment. They are available with brazed on bushes, or users can elect to use separate brass compression bushes.
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”
Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd has extended their range of withdrawable heaters to include higher Watts density designs.
These higher Watts densities are made possible by the use of Nicrofer 7216 high temperature alloy materials from ThyssenKrupp VDM, heat treatment of the immersion tube and the application of Computational Fluid Dynamcis, Statistical Thermodynamics and Finite Element Analysis to better understand the heat transfer process.
Withdrawable heaters are typically used in applications where it is necessary to limit the temperature to which the heated fluid is exposed. This is important in heating oils, polymers, heat transfer fluids, food and in fermentation processes. Withdrawable heaters are also used where it is essential to be able to remove the element without emptying the tank, such as on shipboard tanks, sullage tanks and waste water treatment applications.
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers in the region with the equipment that they need, to do the things they need to do.”

Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd has extended their range of certified flameproof flanged immersion heaters.
The extension of the range, to include 350NB and 150NB sizes, provides increased opportunities for users to ensure their installations are IECEx compliant.
The IECEx scheme for equipment for use in explosive atmospheres currently operates in many countries including Australia and New Zealand and will become the global standard as individual countries phase out national standards, which can represent barriers to international trade.
The
on going product development program at Grimwood cements their
position as the world leader in its field. Grimwood is the first,
and currently only company worldwide holding Certificates of
Conformity for this class of product.
Grimwood Managing Director, Brian Walkington, said “We will continue to extend the product range. This will provide customers in the region with the equipment certified for explosive atmospheres that they need to protect their people, assets and neighbours.”
At last Australian industry now has a local choice when it comes to ensuring that their hazardous area electrical heating requirements are met. Until now the only choice has been to import equipment from the UK, or to continue using equipment not fully complying with current requirements.
Since completing a management buyout of the Electrolux Element and Tube business in October 2003, the team at Grimwood Heating has worked closely with Simtars and implemented the required quality system to gain IEC certification for the design and manufacture of Ex d heaters.
The
Grimwood range of flanged immersion heaters can now be manufactured
to provide hazardous area protection for users in the Asia Pacific
region. Depending on the location and operating environment,
units can be made in either carbon steel or stainless steel.
The benefits of using locally designed and manufactured product fully complying with hazardous area requirements are shorter supply chains and lead times, quicker and clearer communication, and knowing the your dollars are staying in Australia.
Grimwood Electrical Products was formed over 50 years ago specialising in the manufacture of industrial electrical heating, after being bought by Email in the 1970s it became absorbed into Email Limited’s Appliance Group, which was acquired by Electrolux Home Products in 2001. Now once again an independent local operation, the organisation has retained the accumulated knowledge and heritage of the original Grimwood.
The focus of Grimwood today is on providing customers who value quality with products they can trust on short lead times and with reliable service.
Managing Director Brian Walkington recently said “The choice is now easy for people who value quality and doing the job right. Our team at Grimwood can provide the only legitimate local solution for electric heating in hazardous areas.”
